Community Impact and LIVE UNITED

United Way's goal is not a quick fix to treat symptoms. Our goal is about long-lasting change; addressing issues before they become problems. It's about getting to the root causes that prevent individuals and families from living financially self-sufficient lives.

We know that we can not create lasting change alone. This is why every year United Way partners with individuals and organizations to develop plans that proactively deal with critical health and human care issues.

To achieve our goal to build self-sufficient lives, United Way is focused on two approaches:

  • First: We support a safety net of care to ensure that basic needs are met today
  • Second: We support solutions for long-term change focused on education and financial stability to move people from dependency to self-sufficiency.

These Community Impact Priorities can be further explained as:

  • Basic Needs: United Way supports programs for individuals and families to access basic need services for food, shelter and medical care to maximize their ability to live in a healthy environment with independence and dignity.
  • Education: United Way supports programs for children and youth to ensure that they are ready academically, socially and emotionally for kindergarten and are prepared to graduate from high school and pursue secondary education.
  • Financial Stability: United Way supports programs for individuals to increase their knowledge of financial management and help them pursue education that will allow them to attain marketable skills and achieve employment that provides self-sufficiency.

Your investment to United Way's Community Impact Fund will allow you to LIVE UNITED with others who want to make a difference in people's lives.
