VOLUNTEER
Our incredible volunteers make OC Free Tax Prep possible. As a volunteer, you will work with incredible people and get hands-on experience with tax preparation and customer service assisting individuals and families in filing their taxes. You’ll be making a positive impact, helping thousands of local residents become more financially stable and self-sufficient. SUCCESS STORIES
Paying for tax services was never in Leila's budget so she felt anxious around tax time. When she found out about VITA, she was overjoyed and brought her two sisters to also take advantage of this great community resource. The refund she received from Cal EITC and Federal EITC will go towards education expenses.

ABOUT THE OC FREE TAX PREP PROGRAM
OC Free Tax Prep provides free tax preparation services to thousands of low-income residents while also conducting outreach and education to raise awareness of and access to tax credits, like the California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC), which results in more money returned to our community, often bolstering a struggling family’s ability to provide for their children, pay for rent, food, and medical expenses, while simultaneously stimulating the local economy.
OC Free Tax Prep is part of Orange County United Way’s United for Financial Security℠ initiative, which is helping local families gain financial stability, transition from surviving to thriving, and work toward self-sufficiency.
Last year, thousands of community members received free tax preparation services, helping to return millions in tax refunds to local families. Tax refunds help stabilize low and moderate-income families as well as stimulate local economies. Through the OC Free Tax Prep campaign, Orange County United Way’s United for Financial Security℠ Initiative is helping local families gain financial independence, and go from surviving to thriving.
Young children in lower-income families that benefit from expanded federal and California EITCs are more likely to go to college (Center on Budget and Policy Priorities).
