Workplace Campaign

Giving through the workplace provides an easy, efficient and effective way to participate in community giving. Dollars designated to the Community Impact fund will support outcome-focused programs within our communities that help individuals and families secure their most basic needs. We know that these critical needs must first be met in order to move people from survival to the path towards economic self-sufficiency and security. Your gift will also support programs and partnerships that address the underlying causes of community conditions and create comprehensive solutions for lasting change.

Update from our 2007-2008 Campaign Chairman, Peter Case

It's time to pass the gavel off! After two years as the Investor Relations Cabinet Chair, I am honored to pass the torch to Ken Lickel. It has been a true pleasure working with each employee at Orange County United Way. You have shown me how to LIVE UNITED and continually give back to Orange County.

And now, with the campaign season closed, it's time to focus on our corporate partners who supported United Way's Community Impact work this last year. Hats off to all of you, what a successful campaign season!

The County
Again, The County has surpassed expectations and to date has raised more than $699,000 for Orange County United Way. With more than 5,100 employees participating in the campaign, the county has held numerous events throughout the year (with more planned) including a leadership breakfast, rallies, a golf tournament, picnics and more. This past fall the County Public Defender’s Office held its 3rd Annual Silent/Live Auction that raised more than $6,800. Way to go!

Enterprise Rent-A-Car
Enterprise has shifted its corporate match policy to have all employee matching gifts ($.50:$1) from the Enterprise Foundation go to our Community Impact fund. This policy change could mean an increase of more than $80,000 to support our work in the community! Thank you Enterprise!

Pacific Life
Campaign totals were outstanding for a second year in a row! Community Impact dollars continued to increase to 76%, with a total of $364,504. Our partners at Pacific Life continue to match employee giving dollar-for-dollar and remain the major sponsor of our Loaned Executive program.

The Irvine Company
Our partners at The Irvine Company set a goal of $59,315 invested in United Way’s Community Impact work. Drum roll please…to date, The Irvine Company has raised $68,760 directed to our Community Impact fund. This represents a 16% increase to goal and the campaign year is far from over.

UPS
For the eighth consecutive year, UPS and its employees have remained the top supporters of United Way. The UPS Foundation, its employees and retirees pledged $60.8 million to United Ways nationwide during the 2007 campaign and their volunteer commitment is second to none. UPS was also named the “Most Socially Responsible” company among all companies in Fortune Magazine’s “America’s Most Admired” survey. Locally, our UPS partners in Orange County have initiated a $15,000 corporate/Tocqueville match through the UPS Foundation and continue to raise the bar with their campaign results which are currently being processed and look very good.
