The program is aimed at reducing both the skills gap in Orange County and addressing the cyber security resource shortage.
San Clemente, Calif. June 21, 2019 — CISOSHARE has recently begun the first phase of their four-phase cyber security job transition program in partnership with Orange County United Way’s UpSkill OC program. UpSkill OC is a workforce development initiative aimed at reducing the skills gap in Orange County. The initiative provides previously homeless and housing-insecure Orange County residents with a means to steady employment in middle-skill careers to maintain their housing moving forward.
This multi-phase cyber security approach looks to first identify and recruit people with cyber security aptitudes and to then quickly transition them into higher paying sustainable cyber security careers. The program focuses on first identifying talent and then eliminating roadblocks that often prevent these people from entering the cyber security industry.
CISOSHARE’s training and development program begins by working with UpSkill OC to source candidates that have at least a high school education and present aptitudes that can be easily developed into the future required skills of an effective security professional. Following the four-week training class, the candidates will move on to a month of role-specific training with CISOSHARE’s security experts. The roles in which they will be trained include three of the most-needed cyber security positions: Third-party risk assessors, vulnerability analysts, and policy analysts.
Finally, in the last phase, participants will have the opportunity to work on actual projects and teams for real organizations, performing the roles in which they have selected during the earlier phases of the program.
“With the complex challenges and substantial costs the average organization faces in cyber security, it’s crazy to think that perfectly capable individuals are often prevented from entering the industry due to items like access to technology, appropriate dress, housing, or transportation,” says Mike Gentile, Founder, President, and CEO of CISOSHARE. “Our goal for this program is to get from talent identification to helping organizations better secure themselves in the fastest and most efficient manner possible, helping everyone involved along the way.”
“We’re excited to work with CISOSHARE to put this cyber security training program together,” said Susan Parks, President and CEO of Orange County United Way. “This is a new and innovative way for us to connect those in need in Orange County with a new career pathway that will help them gain financial stability and independence.”
