Irvine, CA. (October 23, 2023) – Today, Orange County United Way announced the election of Mahboob Akhter as the newest member of its Board of Directors. Akhter was elected to a three-year term beginning in September 2023 and ending in June 2026.
“I am thrilled to welcome Mahboob Akhter to the Board of Directors, especially given his wealth of expertise in business development and proven managerial and technical skills,” said Susan B. Parks, President and CEO of Orange County United Way. “His unique perspective and background as a former 2-1-1 Orange County board member will further the proficiency of our board and advance our organization as we collaborate to support the Orange County community.”
Mahboob Akhter is currently the President and CEO of Ascend Tools, Inc., a young start-up specialized in the supply of technology-driven hand tools for industrial, aviation, composite, and electrical markets. Through 24 years as a core team member at a diverse number of technology start-up companies, Akhter has provided corporate direction, executed marketing and sales strategies, acquired high profile customers, and built offshore development teams. He is renowned in his field as an operations and marketing leader who can develop a company from a product concept to a profitable high-growth business.
Aside from his many business accolades, Akhter has a demonstrated passion and willingness to serve the greater good having been a member of several charitable boards, including 211OC, and the Safi Qureshey Foundation, as well as the immediate past Chair of the Saddleback College Foundation.
