Irvine, CA, (April 4, 2022) – Orange County United Way today announced that Andrew Fahmy has been named the Executive Director for its United for Financial Security initiative. He will serve as the lead spokesperson for the initiative and oversee public awareness, advocacy, and signature programmatic strategies that help Orange County families address immediate challenges and set them on the path toward financial security.

“We are pleased to have Andrew join us as the Executive Director for our United for Financial Security initiative,” said Susan B. Parks, President, and CEO of Orange County United Way. “His transformative thinking will advance the programmatic work of our initiative and his passion for advocacy will help expand and develop United for Financial Security’s goals to educate and inspire action. He brings entrepreneurial experience and spirit into all areas of his work and under his leadership, we will continue to ensure our families in need find financial security and thrive.”

Fahmy will lead a team of program managers and project consultants to advance community programs and strategies for OC Free Tax Prep, Orange County Emergency Food and Shelter Program, Keeping it Real OC, Covered CA Outreach and Enrollment, SparkPoint OC, and UpSkill OC.

Prior to joining Orange County United Way, Fahmy most recently served as Education Director at Pacific Clinics where he led a multi-disciplinary team of employment specialists, success coaches, and academic advisors while overseeing the administrative, programmatic, and training functions of the Recovery Education Institute.

He has also held positions with the Multi-Ethnic Collaborative of Community Agencies (MECCA) and The Olin Group, where his collaborative work as Operations Manager and Families and Communities Together (FaCT) Coordinator focused on vulnerable families and supported 15 FaCT resource centers across Orange County.

An avid Orange County community volunteer, Fahmy assisted with the development and organization of Peer Voices of Orange County (PVOC) and founded the Community Camp Corporation, a 501c3 organization that helps peer-led groups plan and host recreational camp experiences for people living with or affected by mental illness.

“I’m honored to lead Orange County United Way’s United for Financial Security initiative,” said Fahmy. “As an Orange County native, I have deep ties to this community and care deeply for the people who live here. I am ready to roll up my sleeves and work alongside our dedicated team and partners to bring attention to solutions that can drive change and ensure every family who lives here achieves financial stability.”

Fahmy graduated from California State University, Fullerton.
