Orange County United Way Names Three New Board Members and Elects Officers

New appointees are local leaders in law, finance and transportation industries

Irvine, CA, September 9, 2019 – Orange County United Way is proud to announce the election of three new members to its respected board of directors. The new members were elected at the Orange County United Way Annual Board Meeting held on April 2, 2019 and will serve July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022:

  • Ashleigh E. Aitken, Attorney, Aitken¨Aitken¨Cohn
  • Christine A. Scheuneman, Board Director, Farmers & Merchants Bank of Long Beach
  • Mitchell Shenkin, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Enterprise Holdings

“All three of our newest board members embody the spirit of community and bring talent, expertise and energy to further our organization’s important work for the education, health, housing and financial stability of every person in Orange County,” said Susan B. Parks, President & CEO of Orange County United Way. “We look forward to working with these individuals and the larger board at this critical time in the evolution of Orange County United Way.

Ashleigh E. Aitken is an attorney at Aitken¨Aitken¨Cohn, where she specializes in complex business litigation, class actions and major personal injury cases. She was the 2015 president of the Orange County Bar Association, championing veterans’ rights and pro bono services for military and veteran families, and 2016 President of the Orange County Bar Association Charitable Fund. Prior to becoming a trial attorney, she was a civil litigator and a former federal prosecutor, where she tried criminal and civil cases in federal and state court, as well as before the 9th Circuit.

Christine A. Scheuneman was recently elected to the Board of Directors of Farmers & Merchants Bank of Long Beach. She is an independent corporate director and corporate advisor to national and international private and Fortune 100 companies. She is an award-winning leader achieving results with organizations by providing innovative and strategic advice, and is a published author on corporate governance and finance issues. She recently retired as a litigation partner in the Los Angeles office of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, an international law firm with 19 offices in six countries.

Mitchell Shenkin is Vice President, Sales & Marketing at Enterprise Holdings, overseeing a team of 75 employees with responsibilities for sales, marketing, and strategy for all insurance partners, dealership and repair facilities. He started with the company as a management trainee and quickly worked his way up the ranks to rental branch manager, area manager and regional rental manger, and was promoted to Arizona to run the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport overseeing all three Enterprise Holdings brands. In 2014, he was promoted again to Louisville, Kentucky, overseeing all rental operations in Louisville and eastern Kentucky, followed by a promotion to regional vice president in Houston, Texas.

The Board of Directors additionally announced the election of its officers as of July 1:

  • Tam Nguyen, Vice Chair – President, Advance Beauty College
  • Suzanne Fradette, Treasurer – Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP
  • Timothy S. Clyde, Secretary – CEO, Katzkin Leather
