This year, Orange County United Way’s OC Free Tax Prep campaign helped more individuals than ever before keep their hard-earned money and save towards a better future.

The 2018 OC Free Tax Prep campaign, in collaboration with Citi Community Development, served more than 19,000 clients throughout Orange County, bringing almost $16.3 million in federal and state refunds – with more than $4.5 million in federal Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC) alone!

Orange County United Way partnered with 24 organizations and hosted more than 350 events throughout the county to help eligible local families file their taxes free of charge and see if they were qualified for federal and newly expanded California EITC – available for households earning less than $54,000.

Filing your taxes can be an overwhelming and expensive process, but thanks to the OC Free Tax Prep campaign the community saved $3.83 million in preparation fees.

Looking at the big picture, Orange County United Way has served 86,300 taxpayers over the last five years through this campaign. OC Free Tax Prep has been integral in refunding $75,410,500 back into the pockets of Orange County families.

A special recognition to the more than 500 Orange County United Way volunteers and partner agency staff members who contributed more than 17,000 volunteer hours at the OC Free Tax Prep events.
